    "textoCompleto" => "<span class="elsevierStyleSections"><p id="par0005" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">The correspondence by Tr&#237;as-Llim&#243;s<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0005"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">1</span></a> regarding our study &#8220;Alcohol abuse numbers in Spain&#8221;<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0010"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">2</span></a> states that the criteria employed in our estimate of annual deaths are inadequate because they include items that are poorly related to alcohol such as laryngeal and esophageal cancer&#46; We agree with the author that certain items can show a less close relationship than others with alcohol-related mortality and that calculating alcohol-related mortality is complex&#46; However&#44; the author minimizes the fact that&#44; as described in the methodology&#44; our data are based on the successive reports on &#8220;Patterns of mortality in Spain &#40;2008&#44; 2010 and 2015&#41;&#8221;<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0015"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">3</span></a> of the Spanish Ministry of Health&#44; Social Services and Equality&#44; with data updated for 2016 with identical methodology&#46; These reports constitute official&#44; comprehensive publications and are&#44; as far as we know&#44; the most reliable source on this material in Spain&#46; These reports can also be instantly consulted and extrapolated for successive years with identical methodology and&#44; above all&#44; show comparative long-term trends&#46; This last aspect is extremely relevant for designing preventive policies for combating alcohol-related mortality&#46;</p><p id="par0010" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">The other available source is the data estimates of the Global Burden of Disease &#40;GBD&#41; for Spain&#46;<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0020"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">4</span></a> For comparison&#44; the GBD estimated alcohol-related deaths &#40;2016&#41; at 31&#44;688 &#40;22&#44;447&#8211;41&#44;865&#41;&#44; while our data place the number at 23&#44;876&#46; Therefore&#44; our estimate is included in the confidence interval of the GBD estimate&#44; although the figure is lower&#46; As Tr&#237;as-Llim&#243;s points out&#44; however&#44; the GBD appears to overestimate alcohol-related mortality&#44; especially in advanced ages&#46; We agree with the author that proper completion of death certificates can improve the estimates for alcohol-related mortality in Spain&#46;</p><p id="par0015" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Our study also shows data estimates on emergency department visits&#44; hospitalizations&#44; traffic accidents&#44; fetal impairment&#44; etc&#46;&#44; which demonstrated the magnitude of alcohol-related problems in Spain&#46; Verified quality information is undoubtedly the basis for preventing alcohol-related mortality and implementing measures&#44; with a special emphasis on the most vulnerable populations &#40;e&#46;g&#46;&#44; pregnant women&#44; drivers&#44; the young&#41;&#44; which will help control this problem&#46;</p></span>"
