El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar el comportamiento de los parámetros oscilométricos en 60 pacientes con asma bronquial y en 39 con fibrosis quística. A todos se les realizó oscilometría de impulsos (IOS) y espirometría forzada. Se evaluaron las correlaciones existentes entre el volumen espiratorio forzado en el primer segundo (FEV1) y diversas variables oscilométricas. En sujetos asmáticos los parámetros de oscilometría que mejor se correlacionaron con el FEV1 fueron la impedancia (Zsr) y la resistencia a 5 hertzios (Rsr5), mientras que en los individuos con fibrosis quística fueron la Zsr y la reactancia a 5 hertzios (Xsr5). En este último grupo de enfermos no se encontró correlación entre el FEV1 y la Rsr en la mayoría de las frecuencias evaluadas. Concluimos que existen diferencias en el comportamiento de los parámetros oscilométricos en pacientes con asma bronquial y fibrosis quística. Los parámetros oscilométricos de mayor utilidad en la detección de la obstrucción al flujo aéreo son variables según la enfermedad estudiada.

This study aims to assess the behavior of the oscillometric parameters in 60 patients with bronchial asthma and in 39 with cystic fibrosis. All of them underwent an impulse oscillometry (IOS) and forced spirometry. The correlations existing between FEV1 and different oscillometric endpoints were assessed. In asthmatic subjects, the oscillometry parameters that correlated best with the FEV1 were impedance (Zsr) and resistance to 5 hertz (Rsr5), while it was the Zsr and reactance to 5 hertz (Xsr5) in the individuals with cystic fibrosis. In the last group of patients, no correlation was found between FEV1 and Rsr in most of the frequencies evaluated. We conclude that there are differences in the behavior of the oscillometric parameters in patients with bronchial asthma and cystic fibrosis. The oscillometric parameters having the greatest use in the detection of the obstruction to airflow vary according to the disease studied.
